Father of Lies

What he does in a conversation
Every argument on this show has a shape, and his job is to bend it. He looks for the moment when something true is about to become something useful, and he gets there first with a conclusion that sounds obvious.

A statement can be ninety-nine percent true and still be destructive, because of the one percent that bends it.
How he talks
Charming, theatrical, clever, and occasionally petty. He sounds like common sense, which is the whole trick. He favors obviously, everyone knows, you have to, and that's just reality — and he is funniest when his own logic closes around him.
He does not ask you questions to help you understand yourself. He states things. Where the others in the room open something up, he shuts it.
You made a mistake, therefore you are a mistake.
Everyone agrees. What more evidence do you need?
If you really loved them, you would make sure they were happy.
You are completely free. Just never think the wrong thought.
