The short version: we ask for a name and an email address, we use them to send you the collectible you asked for and word of what comes next, we do not sell them, and we do not follow you around the internet. The longer version is below, because the short version is not quite enough to be honest.

We collect what the order needs — your name, email address, and, for anything physical, a shipping address. Payment is handled by our payment processor; we never receive or store your full card number. Purchases and memberships are available in the United States only, as described in Section 12.
Nothing. No name, no email address, and no field of any kind is shown to you, and nothing about you is recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. You are shown a message asking you to bring a parent or guardian, and that is the entire interaction.
We collect the information needed to complete it, including signed transfer documents and identity verification. Identity documents are used only to verify the transfer and are deleted once verification is complete. We do not retain copies.
Our hosting, website, security, and email providers keep ordinary technical and analytics information, such as browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages visited, approximate location derived from an IP address, whether an email was opened or a link clicked, and cookie or similar technology information. This tells us that a page was popular. It does not build a profile of you, and it is not used to advertise to you elsewhere.
We send you marketing email because you ticked the consent box on the claim form and then confirmed your address by clicking the link we emailed you. That confirmation is our record of your consent.
You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. Withdrawing it does not affect any Founding Edition you already hold — your number stays yours.
Little Dark Why’s is a series about a child asking difficult questions, so we assume children find it. That is why the claim flow asks your age before it asks anything else.
You must be 18 or older to claim or own a Founding Edition. A visitor who indicates they are under 18 is shown no fields at all and is asked to bring a parent or guardian, who may claim in their own name. We do not register Founding Editions to minors.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information, tell us through our contact form and we will delete it promptly.
This is the part most privacy policies would not tell you plainly, so we will.
Every Founding Edition is individually numbered, and our promise is that a number is never recycled and an edition is never expanded. That promise only holds if the record of which numbers have been issued survives permanently — including after you leave.
So if you ask us to delete your personal information, we will remove your name and email address from the registry and from our mailing list. The edition number itself stays marked as issued, permanently and unassigned to anyone. It does not return to circulation and it is not given to someone else. An edition of 250 always means 250 were made, even if one or two of them now belong to nobody. We think that is the honest reading of both promises at once: your wish to be forgotten, and every other collector’s right to an edition that means what it said it meant.
If you would rather your edition passed to someone than be retired this way, ask us about a transfer instead.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run advertising trackers. We do not use the Meta pixel, Google Analytics, or any other advertising or social-media tracking pixel on this Site. We may disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, to investigate misuse of the Site, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
We and our service providers use cookies, tags, and logs for basic site functions, security, preferences, and simple traffic analytics. We do not use cookies or pixels for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site profiling. Your browser settings may allow you to limit cookies, although some parts of the Site may not work properly as a result.
Email. You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. We may still send non-marketing messages when necessary to administer your claim, complete a transfer, provide information you asked for, or address legal or security matters.
Text messages. We only text a number you gave us, and only for the reason you gave it.
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, to operate the registry, to meet legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Registry records of issued numbers are retained permanently, as described in Section 6. Identity documents provided for a transfer are deleted once verification is complete. Records of the consent you gave us, including when you gave it, are retained for as long as we rely on that consent and for a reasonable period afterwards.

We may retain certain information where permitted or required by law, for security, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, or legitimate operational purposes.
Everyone is welcome here. Wherever you live, you may use the Site, watch the series, read about the characters, join our mailing list, and claim any free digital edition we offer. We are glad you found us.
We sell and ship in the United States only. Paid items, physical goods, and memberships are available only to people located in the United States. That is a limit on what we can sell you, not on whether you are welcome.
Your information is held in the United States. This Site is operated from the State of Nevada, and information you give us is stored and processed in the United States by the providers listed in Section 7. If you are outside the United States, please understand that United States privacy law differs from the law where you live, and that by giving us your information you are asking us to hold it here.
We honor requests from everyone, everywhere. Whatever country or state you live in, you may make any of the requests listed in Section 11, and we will honor them on the same terms as we would for anyone else — without asking you to prove where you live, and without requiring you to cite a particular law. We would rather simply do it than argue about whether we have to.
We do not profile you. We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not track your behavior across other websites, as those terms are used in United States state privacy laws and elsewhere. What we collect is what you typed into a form, plus ordinary traffic figures.
We may update this policy by posting a revised version on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects what we do with information you have already given us, we will tell you by email. Your continued use of the Site after an update means the revised policy applies going forward.
